I lost a really nice watch and my first state of Hawaii drivers license the last time I surfed diamond head. The watch was resistant to 100M. Funny to think that for the next ten years every hour on the hour a quiet chime will lament from the ocean below Diamond Head. Anyway, this morning I went to get my new license before work. Just as well, I don't look much like I did when we came here 2 years ago. The old license was starting to get scrutiny.

Kamehameha Middle School's Japan Trip

Our family friends the Adams came back from Japan last week Thursday. Cecilia, went to help chaperone the Kamehameha Middle School kids including her daughter Kapua (on right in picture). They did Hawaiian style joint-sound performances at three different locations in Japan. The also detoured to see several shrines, historic monuments and of course Disney Land. Cecilia brought along our camera and took about three (3!!!) hours of footage. I've been working on that footage this week in iMovie to show the story on DVD. I've also put some of the footage here for easy access.

Southern Swell
Surfed Hau Bush with the long board from around 5:30 until sunset. It was shoulder high faces, fun popping over the lip at the end of the rides. I got carried away and gave myself a killer surf rash.

Waimea to Chun's
In the morning I did a practice North shore swim with the Waikiki swim club starting from Waimea Bay. Ernie Bill and I swam from there to Chun's Reef and back. Probably about 3.6 miles. Super flat, wierd swimming over world famous surf breaks when its flat as a board. Saw several sea turtles one of them laying on the bottom of Chun's was probably about 300 pounds.
In the evening I watched the kids while Sue went out for girls night with the Ocean Point ladies. They enjoyed cocktails and watched Sex in the City toghether.
